Honda HRX217HXA Review

Honda HRX217HXA
We all have brand names we’ve grown to trust because they earned it. For millions of homeowners, one of those brands is Honda, manufacturer of great cars, motorcycles and “Best Of” lawnmowers like the Honda HRX217HXA. Honda has long been an innovator in the automotive field, so it makes sense that it would offer advanced materials like Xenoy resin on its lawnmowers. The lightweight alloy Honda uses for the 21-inch deck of its HRX217HXA mower is virtually indestructible and approximately five times stronger than steel. Xenoy doesn’t dent, rust or corrode when subjected to the outdoor punishment a mower takes over the years. Honda’s 6.5 hp engine also is built for the long haul, powering a twin-mulch blade that efficiently shoots clippings into the European-style, rear-discharge chute that improves maneuverability and eliminates the need for separate attachments. Honda’s exclusive HRX Cruise Control (hydrostatic) transmission allows infinite speed control between 0-4 mph while delivering an excellent cut. Honda’s patented Roto-Stop Blade Clutch enhances safety by allowing the motor to run without the blade spinning. This top mower will only strengthen your trust in the Honda name.

From independent research, we selected the Honda HRX217HXA as a 3LUXE "Best Of". To see our other two Lawnmower selections visit our Lawnmower Overview.

FEATURES
  • Honda Cruise Control- Honda's exclusive HRX Cruise Control (Hydrostatic) transmission allows infinite speed control for a comfortable level between 0 to 4 mph, while producing an excellent cut.
  • Engine- Honda GCV190 OHC/OHV
  • Roto-Stop® Blade Brake Clutch- Honda's patented Roto-Stop® system allows the mower engine to run without the blade spinning. Honda was the first with a blade-brake-clutch that met CPSC requirements for safety back in 1978. So, it's no surprise that the blade control on the Honda lawnmowers is strong and simple.
  • Rear Discharge Chute- The HRX contains a convenient European-style rear discharge that improves maneuverability, eliminating the need for separate discharge chute attachments.
  • Xenoy® Deck- The all-new HRX deck is contructed of advanced and extremely durable Xenoy® material that does not dent, rust, or corrode over time. Developed for Honda, Xenoy® is used in everything from car bumpers to football helmets and is exclusive on Honda Lawnmowers. The HRX is 28 percent more rigid than its predecessor for enhanced maneuverability and tighter blade/deck tolerances for more efficient cutting. The slightly longer deck length ensures excellent balance even when the bag is full. Xenoy® is a registered trademark of General Electric Corporation.

Purchased this mower which has replaced a Toro premium unit that lasted about 18 years. Still runs just hard to start.
All I can say after looking at many mowers there isn't any that surpass this Honda model mower.
Very few offer the BBC system and some don't offer overhead valve. Based on expierence the OHV engines outlast the others.
